While ‘Man of Steel’ was released in 2013, and grossed $667 million after the film production had cost $116m, Warner Bros chiefs were not amused. Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara had set the bar very high. Marvel’s Black Panther, released in 2018, starring the late Chadwick Boseman, had grossed a staggering $1.4 billion, and Warners Bros bigwigs had expected the Kal-El to fly over this figure with ease as he soared towards the sun.
